Miss USA 2013 is honored with the proclamation of "Erin Brady Day" in Portland.

PORTLAND: She’s made her hometown proud, and now Portland is saluting the new Miss USA, Erin Brady.

Brady, who graduated from Portland High School in 2005, was crowned Miss USA in a nationally televised broadcast on Sunday.

Wednesday, the board of selectmen declared June 19 “Erin Brady Day” in Portland.

Brady was not at the selectmen’s meeting as First Selectwoman Susan S. Bransfield read a “Certificate of Congratulations” on behalf of the selectmen.
The certificate was prepared by Bransfield’s executive secretary, Michelle Ceppaglia.

“We certainly want to acknowledge her hard work and show our support for her efforts,” Bransfield said.

The certificate is being presented on behalf of the selectmen “to honor Erin Brady for representing Connecticut and winning the MISS USA Pageant on June 16, 2013.”

“As a past resident and graduate of Portland High School, this certificate is our acknowledgment of your hard work and our support of your achievements!

“As First Selectwoman of the town of Portland I hereby proclaim June 19, 2013 as Erin Brady Day.

“On behalf of all the citizens of Portland, we applaud your victorious win. Congratulations!”
